Wheatbelt Innovation and Enterprise 2017

Once a year, TechCamps4Kids volunteer their services and computers, to help kids in the rural area.

This year, TechCamps4Kids will be teaching over 500 kids how to use technology for innovation and enterprise.  This means, that by the end of the camps, kids will have a better understanding on how to use new skills to create opportunities for a sustainable future.

We will keep you posted on kids achievements through our facebook page.

However, we thought we would leave you with some statistics found on the national site:

  • There has been a steady increase of unemployment in this area
  • About 30% of businesses that employed staff have closed
  • Only 3.5% of youth age 15 to 19 are engaged in work study
  • Comparing 2011 census to the latest census, almost 50% of business that employed more than 4 staff closed
  • And, from personal experience, many houses are now left vacant as families have moved to cities for jobs.

By teaching kids skills that they love and are passionate about, means that we can make a difference to this community.  If only 1% of kids we impact in this area, are able to take their skills to level where they run businesses and offer job opportunities to 4 or more people – we can reverse these  statistics and create hope and purpose for this community.

We call that GIVING A HAND UP not a hand out!

Creatively Designed and Child Approved Camps

TechCamps4Kids focus is creating a student centered technology environment. It is probably why kids, that come to our camps, personally give us the thumbs up!

This is what some kids have said about our camps:

I thought coding would be boring.  TechCamps4Kids showed me how much fun coding is.  I hope my parents allow me to code more at home  – Ryan Year 4

I was a little nervous at the beginning.  I did not believe I could code until I was show how easy it was and I am now a coding coach. – Kole Year 2

So, what makes our camps so different?

Camps are designed with kids in mind.  With over 20 different learning styles, TechCamps4Kids goal is to develop Life, Learning and Literacy Skills through Technology.  Kids learn how to problem solve, think creatively, collaborate, pitch their ideas, and much more, through a project based environment.

This is what one of the parents had to say:

I was surprised to see how my child was talking with other kids.  He is normally quite shy, however at TechCamps4Kids I witnessed him laughing, talking and even singing with the other kids.  –  Carol (Leederville)

These holidays, TechCamps4Kids plan to host a range of events for kids to enjoy.  These events include:

  • YouTube 4 Kidz (Basics)
  • YouTube 4 Kidz (Gaming)
  • Coding 4 Kidz
  • Game Design
  • App Design
  • Cartoon and Animation
  • YouTube & Animation

To book into one of our camps please visit our event page.  Click on the event you would like to book and either click on ‘booking’ or ‘Learn More’ to be directed to our ticketing site.
